Re: 2012 server

... but apparently not. This seems like very bad news as it would imply that harbor applications can no longer be run reliably on any server of recent vintage without disabling smb2, which Microsoft doesn't recommend and is quite an inconvenience, especially when you have over 1200 installations as ...

Re: downgrade Windows 8 Pro to 7 or Vista

... worked for the State ( under the microsoft advantage plan ) .. if you had a license for any MS OS .. you were allowed to install any OS of lesser vintage... meaning if we ordered new machines with Windows 7 we could re-format the OS and put XP on them with our Corporate Key. Rick Lipkin

Detlef,

Changing the dialog color to gray will also look vintage and it won't change the fact that the current buttons and icons look vintage.

I would suggest changing to standard text only buttons. These will inherit the theme and look much better.

color of folder dialogs

... But no success. The use of WindowsXP.Manifest seems to be the cause of not changing colors. But without this theme all other buttons look very 'vintage' :? . Is there a way to get other background colors? Thanks for every idea in advance. Detlef
