Win NT and GdiGradientFill

Win NT and GdiGradientFill

Postby Taavi » Wed Sep 24, 2008 2:18 pm

Hello,
after upgrading to Fwh 8.09 /from 8.03/ we got report form client that executing our application on Win NT results to an error:

The procedure entry point GdiGradientFill could not be located in the dynamic link library GDI32.dll. Obviously some api function (gradientfill()?) is missing.

Anyone have a solution here?

Can we replace GDI32.dll on WIN NT?

WIN NT - Test

Postby ukoenig » Wed Sep 24, 2008 2:43 pm

Hello Taavi,

On one computer, i have installed Win2000 and XP
Win2000 uses the basics of NT.
I had a look at the WIN2000 installed GDI32.DLL.
The file is dated < 19.06.2003 > ( comes from NT )
I tested both version of my tools in WIN2000 :
The one compiled with BORLAND and the one compiled with MinGW.
There was no problem.
Can you find out the date of the used GDI32.dll from your customer ?
Im not really shure, that the error comes from there.
It could be, that the file is changed from a other application,
your customer installed.

Regards
Uwe

A Google search turns up this solution:

"Replace MSIMG32.dll with the one from Win 98SE."

Uwe,

>I don't understand the problem, here it works fine.

I expect it depends on which SP version of NT they are running. Older SP versions may have not had the function in them.

I found lots of references to this problem in the Google search. They all said they solved it by replacing the MSIMG32.dll file. It might also be solved by upgrading to a later SP, but that would probably be more difficult and the SP may not even be available anymore.

Regards,
James

Msimg32

Postby ukoenig » Wed Sep 24, 2008 3:39 pm

Hello James,

A download from my website :

Win98 size : 4.608 KB ( 2006 )
http://www.pflegeplus.com/fw_downloads/msimg32_a.dll

Win NT / 2000 size : 5.392 KB ( 1999 )
http://www.pflegeplus.com/fw_downloads/msimg32_b.dll

Funny, i noticed :
MSIMG32.dll in VISTA is dated from 2006 size 4.608 KB
with the same size like the one for WIN98

The used one has to be renamed to => msimg32.dll

Thanks, Uwe and James,
customer decided to upgrade to WinXp, so I had no chance to test if dll replace will fix the problem. They did'nt have latest patches installed on NT...

Taavi.
