Overlooked Support Features and Tricks
Multi-Edit lets you select blocks of code three ways, Line, Column and Stream.
While you can select which form you want by checking the menu choice under Edit, there is another way. Begin a selection by clicking and dragging over a letter or two. Then while still pressing the left mouse button, click the right mouse button. This will toggle between the 3 modes.

Otto

Otto,

Thanks for the info.
Most of the time I use the key-combinations. I have set MultiEdit to the 'Brief emulation'. In the early days I use the brief-editor and I knew most of the commands :D

I used Multi Edit for many years, but whenever I installed a new computer, it was always a challenge to get it done correctly.

The current version is 2008. That actually was a fairly minor update. Since then they have been promising a new release, but it never happens. I get the monthly newsletter, and it just seems like they will never get there. If they do, the Evolve program, which was so helpful for xBase, will likely not be working with it any longer.

I switched to Ultra Edit Studio. There are some things I miss about Multi Edit, but UE Studio gives me some additional benefits.

Tim,

I still use Version 8g. That one can be copied to another PC by copy the complete directory. All setting stay the same :D

Brief! boy you are dating yourself :D. Talk about old timer, I can remember using EDLINE for some editing when dBaseII came out.

Gale,

I may still have the disks from the Brief editor. Actually there were some pretty good tools back then.

In fact I have lots of old floppy disks with some great software ... both in the large and small size disks.

I even have my original dBase II for CP/M disks and my RunTime license master.

I think we've seen just a few changes.
