Porting from Fwh to Mac

Antonio,

There is no comparison.

1) The iPad mini is actually a shrunken iPad 2 with 16GB of storage. It has a 7" screen. The Dell is a 10.1 inch monitor with the latest technology.
2) The iPad mini can only run limited apps ... great for play and reading ( inside ... can't see the display outside ). The Dell runs full Windows 8 PRO ... so it has far more versatility on the apps and can actually work for business.
3) The iPad mini does not have a dock, the Dell does, which means easy charging and total connectivity !

My point is that a retail price of $ 499 ( and you can bet there will be some discounting ) is very competitive ... and this is only the FIRST tablet in this arena.

Of course, I enjoyed the full iPad ... but I sold mine to my grandson who needed it for school. Now I'm using my Samsung Series 7 Slate ... which is also running Win 8 PRO. It was a gift from Microsoft for attending a FREE developers conference in the area.

Dear guys the future is linux!
My son is studying physics at the University of Padova.
The official operating system is Linux
No windows, no Mac but Linux Ubuntu.
From what I can hear from the speeches of my children and grandchildren I had this opinion: who work in computer appreciates Linux + Android, those who do not work never appreciates the Apple world.

Marco,
„Coolness“ in the sense I use it here is a term of fashion.
Search the internet for “cool tablets, notebooks” and limit the search on "last 2 weeks".
Surface is the most used term.
Best regards,
Otto

Marco,
I forgot to mention that if you search with "Google.it" you always get an Italian flavor of the search.
You have to use Google.com and this is only possible if you have an IP not located in Italy.

Otto

... same in France you only see Google .fr, in Spain Google.es in Germany Google.de in the UK google.co.uk.
Therefore we are not up to date what really is going on in the world.

Marco,
this is not good I think this is bad.
We only get secondary literature (Sekundärliteratur – I hope this is the right translation).

I've just tested a fwh program in Ubuntu 12.04 using wine 1.4.1
directly from usb pen a program written by me.
It works fine!

I think that with OSX + WineBottler it should be the same!
Many thanks to this group full of advice

have a good sunday

Marco,

Here we are somewhat joking what is better Apple, Mac, …

But what I wanted to say is that
localized search is a big dangerous for free information.

Imagine if I search on Google.at for “Metro program” I get the playlist of the cinema “Metro” in Innsbruck.
Localized search will become a problem for the European scientific research.

I hope I could explain what I mean.

Best regards,
Otto
