Very good news that Windows 8.1 starts being available. I think it is a good reaction from Microsoft.

I have both installed. Win 8.1 installer has problems on some computers but ISO is reportedly fine.

Hello,

Please, where can I download the .iso?.

I go to http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/wind ... ad-preview and I get:
ISO files are not yet available

You can install Windows 8.1 Preview through the Windows Store or by using ISO files. Windows 8.1 Preview ISO files will be made available on this site within the next day, so please check back. ISO files for Windows 8.1 Preview will be available in Arabic, English (US), Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), French, German, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Spanish, Swedish, and Turkish. For more information about installing ISO files and the specific delivery methods for the preview, please see “How do I install Windows 8.1 Preview?” in the FAQ.

Antonio, can you also please be aware of the new version in Fivewin windows version functions?.

Thanks.
Saludos,

Eduardo

Hi, ISO avaliable at this moment, only to MSDN subscribers, soon (maybe today) , to public.
FWH Works fine desktop mode in Windows 8.1, and we can boot direct to desktop, shutdown from desktop, disable chams and Works like old Windows 7. :P

important to note that is a preview version, that is, subject to change, it is not recommended to use with your primary computer.

Otto,
I think your comment was sarcastic :o , I don't like it |(old interface), I use the modern interface, but many were complaining, then, for those who don't like the new interface, has the ability to boot to the desktop, for those who, like me, like new (Modern, Metro), it has been enhanced. in other words, for all tastes.

but for those who like the new interface, the control panel this more complete, has more touch gestures, new new bing engine, IE11, native facebook application and flipboard, among other things.
don't think this is a retrograde step, think of it as a break, a strategy, until models have touch, that the price of touch screens are accessible and that users learn how to use modern interface.
and now has another advantage: Antonio can no longer say that it is not Windows. :D

Norberto,
yes.

I looked the video which link you posted.

It is astonishing how tired and weary the MS officials look.
The old build videos 2012 have much more confidence.

Here you see what happen if you are criticised all the time.

I am sorry for them. They have by far the best design with “METRO style”.
Metro style is really an improvement which makes software usably.
True improvement must come from a culture change and identification of ways to create new value for their customers.
Best regards,
Otto

Otto, I wholeheartedly agree with you.
but microsoft is not only Windows, it is Xbox, Azure, Office, Server, live services, windows phone, etc...
I think at this time, as a break for them to adapt these various tools for the modern interface, for example, to the Office in a modern style.
and must have the pressure of OEM partners, such as dell, hp, which are not selling because they failed to adapt to the new times: better quality devices at lower cost. now Windows 8.1 accepts smaller screen devices, 7 and 8 inches, that is we will have tablets to compete with the ipad mini and galaxy note.
and it as a time for us, Metro/Modern likes, as a time to think: Metro is more than the "tiles", is a programming concept, a concept that applications use interconnected research, data exchange, cloud, sandbox, and more things , no matter if Windows 8 or Windows 8 RT.

Best regards

Otto,

I downloaded the new Visual Studio 2013 yesterday but haven't had time to work with it yet. I have so many other issues to resolve right now.

I downloaded Win 8.1 onto my Samsung Slate. It was not an easy task because the auto install ( Store ) was not working properly. Some of it was an issue in the installer with certain releases of 8.0, but also my Slate has not ever worked well. This is rather amazing because Microsoft used it as the tablet of choice for all Windows 8 development. I'm in discussion with Samsung on this issue now. I haven't had much time to test it yet, but I will do so today.

The one thing I did notice is that it takes up less space on my tablet. This one has a 128 GB drive. After the install, cleanup of old files, and letting it condense the drive, I have more space to work with. Of course it also accepts 32GB cards so I will never run out of space. I also noticed that it is much faster. Of course Win 8 is faster and more secure than Win 7. You probably saw a video with many of the features, and that will help answer your question.

Now, on to the "tired" look. I didn't see that but it wouldn't surprise me. The vast majority of criticism Microsoft received, in my view, was completely undeserved. We now have people going to media to push viewpoints on how a Business OS is not meeting consumer needs. Microsoft deviated two years ago from tradition and now has an amazing array of products tied together like no other company. Also, they no longer update every few months. Major updates come out EVERY Tuesday, and more often when needed. They also are successful in the Cloud in a way no other products can be. These people are amazing and I've been privileged to meet many of their staff and development team. They should be tired ... they have worked harder than most people I know.

For those who actually spend time with the products, the results speak for themselves.

I didn't think you were being critical ... so I hope you understand my response is to share some things I've learned by being with Microsoft developers over the past 18 months, and working with their products.

And yes ... I still use FWH and really appreciate all Antonio, and others are doing here !
