accounting system

Hello,
may I ask what kind of accounting systems in your country is obligatory.

AUSTRIA and GERMANY
We have a Duplicate accounting (also known as "double entry accounting".
"Double entry accounting" is an accounting system that records business transactions twice: Business transactions are posted to two accounts, the account and the contra account.

Compared to simple bookkeeping, double-entry bookkeeping records all receipts and expenses not just once, but twice: First, it records the account in which the transaction took place (for example, an account in your bank account or in the cash register). Furthermore, it is recorded what the money was used for (counter account eg travel expenses, office supplies, goods purchase costs).
When is a company required to double-book (size of company)?

Thank you in advance
Otto

I don't know that the US requires double entry, but that is what is taught. My software has a comprehensive accounting program built in and a sample ledger. The system has both Debit and Credit entries, so everything is always in balance.

Here is the link to the manual for my primary product. http://autoshopwriter.com/Manual/index.html

Open to the section Using ASW, and under that open the book Accounting. Under that open the book General Ledger and read the page General Ledger 101. It explains the system in detail.

Everything that has to do with financial data is fully, and transparently, linked into the accounting system. I wrote the whole thing ( what else would one do over 36+ years ) so that I have full control over the integration.

Many products in the US simply export data to a File and then Import it into Quickbooks. To me that was a pretty incomplete solution.

Hello,
thank you for your answers.
How is the situation recordable in Canada, Spain, South America, India and the other countries.
Do you believe it's possible to program a double-entry bookkeeping system that can be used in several countries.
Kind regards
Otto

If you use Double entry system, than you have a system that can be used in many countries, but you have to able to program country specific options for exporting to files. These files will be different for each or many countries.
I mean the files for putting tax files into a online program for the gouverment.

You also have to think about the program logic for editing data. Some countries will not alow that data can be changed once it is entered. (Manipulation of results)

And also important is that you must be able to import bankaccount data.. To get to those files (layout and testing) can be difficult.

That is way I had to buy a accounting system and you can't do without a yearly update system. In my case I use FW to create invoices, stock, statistics, ... but export to the official program to be ok for the law.

If you consider such a program for new business, maybe you can think also about a online/offline program for maintaining webshop...

If I had to do something in software for living, I went that way...

There a so many shops, but so few programs to maintain them. I had to make something for my own business, because the one that exists are not good enough, to complex or not complete for what I want.

Ofcource you cant say that you can input data online, but as a Fwinner, I had to automate it )))

Now I can read hunderds of thousand articles, manipulated them offline for speed, and upload. (I use Prestashop as Webshop) very huge amount of users (and potential customers)

I think that there is business into that...
