Office 365 and OLE

Office 365 and OLE

Postby Colin Haig » Wed Jan 17, 2018 1:18 am

Hi All

I have a client that has swapped to office 365 ( in the cloud ) and it appears OLE does not work - is there a way to overcome this.

Regards

Colin

OLE has worked for me with O365 .. Word, Excel, etc .. is still installed on the client .. Outlook may be a different story if you are trying to send e-mail's.

I use Office 365. The client's are all installed locally. For Outlook, you can use MAPI without any problem.

If they want to use the web based applications, you likely can't work with them. However, Office 365 includes licenses to use the program on 5 computers. For the OLE to work, they need to install the client on their machine. Tell them this gives them access even when there is no net connection, and yet they can save all their documents directly to their One Drive account.

If OLE is not working, they probably have installed the wrong version.

Not all Office versions, like student versions, do contain OLE.

You need a professional version.
