From PC to MAC - Urgent

Hi,

Can someone tell me what is involved to take an application from a FWH program to a FiveMac program?

I have had a request from a client that currently uses my app (FWH) on a PC but now wants to run it on a MAC.
I tried to get him to go with Fusion on the MAC but he will not go that route. He would like it as a real MAC application.

Any info you can provide would really help.

This customer is getting ready to start a research study so I need to figure something out ASAP.

Thanks in advance for any info you can provide :)

Jeff,

If you need an inmediate conversion of your FWH Windows app to Mac, then I strongly suggest you WinBottler as the way to go:

http://winebottler.kronenberg.org/ It is a free product and works really fine :-)

FiveMac lets you create native Mac OSX applications but you can not take a FWH app and recompile it as it is, as it is not fully compatible neither as mature as FWH. FiveMac for now is fine for new Mac OSX developments.

Jeff

I use a Mac Book Pro with Parallels - this allows a virtual machine running windows , you can
toggle back and forward between each os with one key - you can also start a windows app from the
mac task bar - and there is also an option to make your windows apps look like mac apps.

Cheers

Colin

Hi Jeff,
as Antonio suggested, the Wine solution runs well and it is free
I am using it since two years to provide a Mac solution to some customers waiting a full compatible FiveMac.

Is the Wine solution something that an end user could easily install or would I need to do it for them?
(I don't have and Intel based Mac to do testing)

Jeff,

It is an easy process but it has to be done on the client Mac computer, as it installs Wine and some other stuff (WineBottler does it all).

But the result is great :-)

Excellent. I will see if I can use my friends Mac to test :)
