I have the same problem: in my program I must know each printer type (inkjet, laser, dot matrix...). Based on printer type I must printer with tprinter or tdosprn or file and so on...
I don't found a function to detect this information, then I created a printer database were I mark the printer type. If the selected printer isn't on database I search for keywords in the name like "LASER", "INK", "LX", "LQ" and I suppose the type...
