Hi New Member, Have some doubts before I purchase FWH

Postby anserkk » Fri Jun 13, 2008 12:43 pm

Hi all,

I am a new member. Basically I am a clipper programmer with more than 10yrs of experience. I have 4 to 5 different huge Clipper 5.01 application running in the organisation where I am working, and it is working fine without any problem. I am using DBF with NTX files.

1. I would like to know whether FWH will cover the limitations which I have explained earlier.

2. I have not used any of the FiveWin products before. If FiveWin for Harbour meets my above said requiremts I would like to purchase the same.

3. Will the coding will be the same

4. Suppose if I purchase FWH, on how many PC's can I use the software. I have 2 developers here.

Yes, FWH is a professional software developed for more than 10 years.

FWH provides all that you need to port your Clipper applications to Windows.

Much easier and much better organized.

FWH

The people on this forum come from a Clipper background ( I've used it since the very first release, and my dbase experience dates to dBase II under CP/M ), and have all used FWH successfully to make Clipper programs into Windows programs.

Updates now come out every month, and they have many new features, plus fine tuning of existing elements. With FWH you can have your programs running with a user interface that is like the latest Vista programs ( or any other Windows style ), and in some cases you can get results that you can't get with normal Windows development tools.

In addition, you can retain your .DBF structure, or work with others, and you can continue to use .NTX, or perhaps you would like the performance of .CDX.

There are a lot of samples to work from, and people here really do help with any questions you post. Its a good place to get help.

Finally, on many other "forums" where people gather, I often see a lot of opinions on the software, and that leads no where. This forum focuses on helping people get the results they need, and on resolving problems that might arise. That means every post is usually valuable.

I hope this helps.

Hi anserkk

Harbour / xHarbour plus FWH will give you a platform to which you can readily port a Clipper application. If you are porting an existing application you may need to do some extra work if you are using third party libraries - however people here have found ways to do pretty much anything that could be done in a Clipper add on library and much, much more. Depending upon your time frame for porting your application you may want to take advantage of some of the many additional capabilities.

I could go on about many of the nice features of FWH but the best one is the level of support that Antonio provides to us all. If you need any proof of that just check out these very forums. And the users of this forum are very helpful to each other as well.

I hope you decide to join us.
