Very urgent problem in FWH and xHarbour (64-bit ?)

Very urgent problem in FWH and xHarbour (64-bit ?)

Postby driessen » Wed May 19, 2010 3:44 pm

Hello,

I have a very urgent problem.

A customer of mine uses my application for many years without any problem.

A few weeks ago, he installed a new network :
- a server with Windows 2008 Small Business Server 64-bit
- new workstation with Windows 7 Professional 32-bit

My application is build with FWH 10.04 and the latest xHarbour Builder.
CDXRDD is used.

With all this, I never had any problem what's so ever.

But suddenly since I installed my application on the new network of my customer, the index-files are becoming corrupt all the time. I always need to reorganize and rebuild the index-files.

Does anyone have any idea what might cause this problem ? Has it the fact that it is a 64-bit server anything to do with this problem ?

I need an answer very urgently. I hope someone is able to help me.

Thank you very much in advance for any help.
Regards,

Michel D.

Michel,

this could be a problem with SMB 2.0 protocoll, microsoft had enhanced this protocoll in server 2008. Try to disable SMB 2.0

Here are two links with explanations how to do it.

http://www.caseware.com/support/caseknowledge/file-corruption-when-using-windows-vista-windows

http://www.petri.co.il/how-to-disable-smb-2-on-windows-vista-or-server-2008.htm
kind regards

Antonio,
Stefan,

Thank you both for your efforts.

Antonio,

The previous network contained 5 PC's, all Windows XP Professional, with one of these workstation acting as a server. So there was no dedicated server.

Everything was running just fine.

Stefan,

Thanks a lot for your advice.

I'll try it out tomorrow morning immediately.

Thank you both.

If one of you should have any other idea, please don't hesitate to put it here.
Regards,

Guys,

Thanks a lot for your replies.

I disabled SMB2 as well on the server Windows 2008 as on the workstations Windows 7.

My customer is using this starting this morning. Until now, there are no problems. Let's hope is stays that way.

Dear friends,

Just to tell you that a week after SMB 2.0 was disabled on the Windows 2008 server and the Windows 7 workstations of my customer, everything is still ok.

It seems that the problem is solved.

Thank you very much for all your help.

I have a customer that must change his office configuration and is going to make
a new one like yours. I I'll have the same problem, I know what to make.
