Can anyone else confirm that ResEdit opens and immediately closes ( again ) just like a few weeks ago ?

It is working fine for me. My resedit.exe is dated 5/1/2015. I am running Windows 10 Home 21H1, OS Build 19043.1110.

Maybe you should try it on a different computer. Maybe there is a conflict with the computer you are currently using.

You could also try rebooting your computer.

Maybe try turning off your antivirus just as a test.

I found a W10 1909 64 bit computer and ResEdit seems to work on that machine locally ... If I share the Resedit on the network .. opening the share from my Computer caused ResEdit to fail .. which actually makes sense since the program runs on my OS anyway ( shared ) . .. My machine is 21h1 build 19043.1110 .. and Resedit continues to fail ..

What is the data of the Resedit.exe?

Why not install it on both computers rather than share it?

ResEdit.Exe dated 05/01/2015 .. As far as sharing it .. just lazy .. I don't want to walk half way across the office just to cerate\Modify a screen resource .. was hoping sharing the file would allow me to run the file on the 1909 computer .. but that won't work because the .exe loads on my computer regardless of where it is shared from.

OK, if I understand correctly, Resedit will not run on your computer and your computer is running the same version of Windows 10 as mine. And you and I both have the same version of Resedit.

So, it would seem that either something else on your computer is conflicting with Resedit, or Resedit.exe itself is corrupted. Do you have a backup copy of Resedit.exe or can you download it again?

Also, I would try rebooting and turning off your antivirus temporarily, and then trying to run Resedit.exe again.

I just reread your last message, and you seem to be saying that you don't have Resedit on your computer, you are trying to load it across the network. Is that correct? If so, then why don't you try installing it on your computer?

I have had Resedit loaded on my machine for many years ... A couple of weeks ago the same thing happened and Antonio was able to confirm that his version ( same as mine ) was behaving the same way ..

What was interesting enough .. the next day .. Resedit just starting working again .. see the above thread ..

Just tried my 1909 Win 10 machine locally today .. and ResEdit NOW fails on that build as well .. Anyone else having problems with ResEdit closing immediately after the program starts ?

I did download The entire Pelles suite and much to my chagrin .. I could not even figure out how to find the resource editor, let alone try to use it ... I gave up .. I am looking to just Create and Open\Save .rc and .res files .. Simple ..forgive me .. I do not want to create a project just to manage my .rc files.

If you can help me with that, I would be glad to try again.
