Creating reports from a DBF table.

Is there an example of building a report with groups, fonts, headers, footers, etc. without hard coding it ? For example having a DBF file with all the fields, headers, footers, group information, etc. so you can read this file and build whatever report is present. This will be a time saver since you can update your reports without recompiling the application.
