capture keyboard character without get focus

i should capture keyboard characters pressed (tipically to read and process string coming from wireless barcode reader working in keyboard emulation) possibly without need to have the focus active on a get in my FWH app, to solve the problem that the user accidentally shift the focus in other Windows process.
Is it possible somehow? Thank you.
