Otto,
actually we use innovaphone www.innovaphone.com
There is an interface between PC and PBX (via TCP) not between PC and single telephone.
Every internal device: fax, analogic, digital phone, cordless etc. etc. is connected do pbx
only PBX send information to PC.

Hi Marco,
the problem is basically that your solution is the better solution but only if you can choice the pbx that the end user will use
When you already have a lot of users with different pbx solution (anyone with different interface standards),
the only way to provide a "generic" solution for all at a reasonable cost is via a modem or TAPI.

Marco,
actually we use innovaphone because is an amazing product.
With other pbxs the question is always the same.
This solution works, it is cheap and strong and it allows you to create a database of all incoming and outgoing calls for instance for billing purpose.

Regarding TAPI: is not esasy to use and very often yo have to install specific driver.

I repeat: this is my experience.
