This is a copy of the email that we have sent to Patrick Fan. We publish it here so you can participate too :-)

Dear Patrick,

This is Antonio Linares from FiveTech Software. We have been reviewing with great interest you recent VFW build and we would like to set a better cooperation between you and us :-)

You can reach me by email (this one) and also on gtalk (Google Talk). Surely there are a lot of issues that we could talk about.

My idea is that we share our points of view on VFW. From our side we would like to offer you all our suggestions and help to make VFW a better product. I believe that with some little changes in VFW, it could get much more attention from FiveWin users. If FiveWin users know that you and me are cooperating, they will be much more interested in VFW.

Also, you are a great FiveWin master, and I am sure that we can learn many things from each other :-)

Please let me know if you are interested in this cooperation, and if yes, lets organize it together! Thanks

best regards,

Antonio Linares

Today Patrick Fan has sent me an email, which I reproduce it here: (I hope that you don't mind it, Patrick :-)

Thanks for your interest in reviewing the latest VFW,
which is derived from the great work of yours back in
1997. It is always my pleasure to see what I can do to
make it work better with my limited knowledge of
FiveWin. That is the reason for my work on improving
your Visual IDE for the past five and a half years. In
fact, I am using the project manager everyday for
building and maintaining my business software programs
as well as testing new projects, classes and
functions. Thanks for your original idea of building
such an IDE, I find it very efficient for my daily
work and I can hardly imagine how much longer it will
take me to accomplish my task without using it.

Of course, there are a lot of issues in design and
there are a lot of room to improve. At present, I am
only paying attention to those issues that I encounter
in using VFW in my daily work. Those issues are dealt
with or fixed as a first priority using my limited
time.

Since FiveTech is the creator of VFW, I am glad to
have precious suggestions from you to improve the
product. I will try my best to see whether I am
capable of making those necessary changes to make it
better.

I am only a long time user of FiveWin since 1.91, not
a master. You, Antonio, the creator of FiveWin and the
one who initiated the Harbour project, should be the
master of masters. Definitely and hopefully, there are
a lot of things that I can learn from you.

There is no reason for me to say 'No'. But to have a
definite answer 'Yes', I must first have to know more
about the details and scope of such cooperation to see
whether I have sufficient time and ability to do so.

Thanks again for your gift of FWH2.4.

best Regards,

Patrick Fan

And this is my answer to Patrick:
Dear Patrick,

many thanks for your email and for your kind words :-)

I would like to know if you have considered to make open source the
source code of your IDE.

If yes then we could modify FWH to make it compatible with your
changes, so everybody could be able to build the IDE and work on it to
improve it :-)

Maybe you don't have any plans to provide its source code, something
which it is fully respectable. In that case, I can just provide you my
suggestions, and other users suggestions, to get the missing
functionality that we need from it.

I appreciate your comments :-) Thanks,

Antonio Linares
