Vista 64-bit printing problem

Vista 64-bit printing problem

Postby Randal » Fri Nov 07, 2008 6:01 pm

All,

I have a user that has Vista 64-bit and a Canon MP240 printer. The printer drivers installed are 64-bit, he was unable to install the 32-bit version of the drivers. I don't know if that was a Vista issue or an issue with the Canon install.

The message they get when they try to print is "You do not have permission to use the selected printer".

I saw an earlier thread where there was an issue with Vista SP1 if you don't let the user specify the printer however we always use the FROM USER clause.

Using FWH 8.01 and xHarbour Sept 08.

Thanks,
Randal

Randal,

you can´t install a 32bit driver in a 64bit system.

The error seems to be an access violation, please check the rights the user has. (using Antonio´s suggestion)
kind regards

Yes, the user can print from any other windows programs. Most of our reports are done with R&R Report Writer (32-bit) and these reports work fine also.

A little additional information. The print setup window is displayed so the user can select a printer however the error message is displayed on top of the print setup window. All they can do is click OK and the error window and print setup window are closed. Using the report method of tsbrowse, wbrowse, and xbrowse.

Thanks,
Randal
