Is there any chance to write it in English?

I use translate feature built in google's browser. In most cases, this is satisfactory.

Hello José,
thank you for your blog.
As this is fitting to your article I post the next step here: change to metro style
Please see the before/after screenshots.
Best regards,
Otto

Otto,

Very nice look.

Metro converts Folders into such new beautiful dialog or you must rewrite all the code?.

Thank you.

Hello Eduardo,
at the moment I rewrite the dialogs. Most of my dialogs were resources.

Maybe there is an easier way.

There is a program called rc2prg.prg in the FW/sample folder.
I tried to use this to convert from rc to prg.

Best regards,
Otto

Otto,

Thanks for sharing. Very impressive and very good looking job.

But it is very hard to rewrite all dialogs.

Why Fivetech does not provide a new lib that produces Metro look with Fivewin sintax?.

Thanks

Eduardo

Eduardo,
this is all made with Fivewin and Fivewin syntax.
But as far as I have seen resources do not fit into metro style concept.
Most of the dialogs are in fullscreen.
Therefore I said that I changed my dialogs from resources to coded ones.
Best regards,
Otto

Otto:
Are you saying that change resources to prg will product the screen as you displayed it. Or was there a lot of programing of the prg necessary?
Thank you

Otto,

I'm not sure the next step is going to metro style dialogs. I think metro is a try of creating an unified interface for mobile and touch devices in windows platform, but I don't know if the market will follow Microsoft in this change. I think there is a lot of people using computers with XP, Vista and Seven and they don't will change their computer soon. So, we will have to develop for Windows desktop for some years more.

I don't think that change the interface to metro - or else - is only change the aspect of the controls. You have to embrace the new interface. You can't change an interface of a Windows program to Mac only changing the controls to another with Aqua style. In different platforms the controls do different things. I wrote about this in this post http://cincomundos.wordpress.com/2008/0 ... lataforma/

Before changing the interface of my programs, I will think whether it makes sense doing so. If my programs will continue running in a desktop computer, I think that the effort of the change does not worth. If the market goes to PC with touch screens in the next years, I will reconsider the change, but if only is an aesthetic change without an increase of functionallity of the application I'm not sure I will do it.

Kind regards,
José Luis

Good point. Making a change for purley asthetics can be a major job and not worth it.
But some time in the future if not changed the program will be view as old and not up to date even though it still has great functionality.
When change will be necessary who knows. See what competitors are doing.
Thank you

Hello José,
do you have windows 8 installed. If yes have a look into App store and load the free Apps: iCookbook and Cookbook.
Best regards,
Otto
