There are some 'good' and 'not so good' attributes of VS 2008 .. To be honest ( and not to hurt anyones feelings ) .. VS 2008 is a big chunk of code to load+Express C++ just to get a 32 bit Resource ( forms ) editor..
Now with that said .. on the flip-side, I do a lot of SQL server queries and structure manipulations and VS 2008 seems to have the ability to connect ( as easy as sql server studio 2005 ) in one nice and 'handy' place. I see also where there is a data layout ( er diagram ) function that ( looks like ) you can show your primary, secondary keys, table structures and relationships .. in sorta a Visio type diagram.
Also there is a connect ( wizzard ) to connect ( I think ) to other data SQL sources .. like Oracle ( perhaps ) .. I have not been successful in getting the combination of Oracle Client and ADO connection strings to get close to working .. perhaps VS 2008 would help me there.
I think there is a viable use for VS 2008 and FiveWin\(x)Harbour .. but I have a hard time swolling the baggage it takes to get the forms editor to work and be a useful Resource editor ( for me ) ..
Please forgive me ( if I am wrong ) here as I hope I have loaded the VS 2008 correctly and the above short-comings are incorrect ..
But for now .. I will continue to watch this subject with interest !!
